New Fun Hairstyles!
A Picture Post
These pictures in this post are a mix of strawberry picking, a tea party gone mad, a photo shoot with Hannah and Ellie (only one of Ellie--she prefers being behind the camera), Landon's birthday party at a farm, and a random shot or two. Enjoy!

Zip Lining...for Lisa...
The fam went strawberry picking...and after strawberry picking you have to go zip lining. This can lead to some laughs but it looks like everyone here did quite well...except maybe Hannah. :0)
Lisa--Steph has the right idea here--pick your feet up! You should've tried that.

Today Plus Possibly Some Ramblings
It's been a good day and I am thankful. We did a little school this morning and then I went out for coffee with Steph (my sis-in-law) and did a little shopping downtown. I got a birthday present for my favorite two year old and a new puzzle for Joe and I. My 1000 piece puzzles are intimidating to him and he usually doesn't help me much until I get toward the end. So, today I got a 300 piece puzzle, still the White Mountain brand that I like, and I'm hoping he and I can really work on it together. When we got home Steph and the kids did some picking up and cleaning (the kids' room was appalling!) and more school and once Steph took Sophie home for her nap we did even more school. It was a super productive day and if you know me at all you know that productivity makes. me. happy. Now, I'm showered and all ready for a night on the town with the grown ups at a favorite local restaurant.
I have a new idea that I'm looking forward to starting...I am hoping to get an iPhone in a few weeks and possibly the one that has a video camera. If I do get that, I'd like to start taking a short video every day. Not of anything special--just what we're doing that day. We used to video the kids all the time but now the only time we video anything is when they're on stage. I'd like to capture our every day as well. Just something like a 2 minute video each day. I have millions of ideas and only a very few come to fruition but I'm really fo rizzle planning to do this one though. Another idea that I've had and planning to fo rizzle do is a Lenten Cross, sort of like a Jesse Tree thing but it's for Easter. Each day for 40 days leading up to Easter you read a Bible verse and add an "ornament" to the cross that represents a part of the Easter story. Ash Wednesday is February 22 and that's when it starts. I also found another site here with some ideas for activities for making the Lenten season meaningful and prepare our hearts for Easter. If anyone else has any ideas for this time of year please let me know in the comments.
Peace out my friends!

Daybook Style...
Right now...Grace is doing dishes and singing. I love her daily concerts, she puts my iPod in the docking station and sings and sings and sings. Her favorites are songs from Wicked, Matilda, and The Addams Family Musical. She has a beautiful voice and it's a joy to listen to her. Hannah is straightening her hair again, this is her new favorite look I think. Joe is taking a break from school and playing a computer game. He still has quite a bit of school to do but I've finally learned something about Joe--he knows what he needs to do each day and he will do it in his own time without any nagging on my part. I give him a card each morning with his daily assignments and chores and he has control over when he does what. We are having almost no battles over school for the first time in his whole school life and he does every single thing on his card. It's a Christmas miracle.
Around the house...it's okay but not great. It needs a momma's touch. We are having it cleaned every other week and I am so thankful for that, at least it's staying clean. It's just messier than I like, stuff in the wrong place, etc. Hopefully in another 6 weeks I'll be back on my feet and can start getting things back to normal, whatever that is.
From the schoolroom...no big changes here, just our regular daily grind. Starting in February I'll be adding more writing as a big focus for the girls. For now though we are getting math, language arts, history, and science (for Hannah and Grace) done every day. Joe's science lessons have been very sporadic this year but I'm not worried--that's one area I think he is pretty advanced in. He is fascinated by the Periodic Table though and I'd like to do some sort of simplistic study of it for him in the spring.
I'm reading...a ton! I just finished a very interesting book called Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It's a young adult book but definitely a good read for any adult. It's an interesting story centered old vintage photographs that are included regularly in the book. I highly recommend this one! I also finished the Hunger Games series and enjoyed the second two books more than the first. It was great. I highly recommend that one too.
My poor pumpkin leg...seems to be better and better. I still can't bend it a whole lot but it's mostly not hurting except for an occasional dull ache. I'm becoming a little more independent due to getting pretty good at the crutches as well as less fear about hurting myself again. I've never been so thankful for having a small kitchen...I can now make myself a cup of tea or coffee and get it to the table and then sit and drink it or make toast or heat up leftovers in the microwave. It's kind of exciting.
Joe...has decided to read a book on his own...Old Yeller. I got it from the library yesterday because it's our next reader for Sonlight. In Sonlight you always have two books going--one is a read aloud and the other is a reader. The kids are supposed to read the reader on their own but that hasn't worked that way here and I've been reading both aloud for a while now. I didn't even tell Joe this or ask him to read Old Yeller on his own. He just saw it and stated that he wanted to read it. This is exactly what happened when he read all of those A to Z Mysteries--it was out of the blue and all his idea. So, we'll see how this goes. He's read one chapter so far and had enough questions that I had to read the chapter too to answer his questions. I'm worried that the ending will really upset him but I think that a book that moves you is always worth reading.
Hannah and Grace...are becoming experts at duct tape crafts. Hannah can make rings and roses and shoes and Grace can make wallets and bags. Who knew duct tape could be so fun?
A few plans for the rest of the week...hopefully getting my nose re-pierced (hair is dyed and cut and eyebrows waxed already), going to my favorite 2 year old's birthday party, and that's about it that I know of...hopefully a few other things will come up or I may end up reading another 3 or 4 books this week. :0)

Hannah Gets Dressed Up and Goes to a Party
Hannah's friend, Kayla, had a big 13th birthday party. It was a get-all-dressed-up-and-rent-a-ballroom-and-a-dj-and-everybody-dance-all-night party. Hannah borrowed a dress from Ms. Amanda and looked just beautiful!
Disney and the Beach
Here are some pictures from Steph and Gabi's trip to Disney with the little girls. They had a great day as you can tell!
This past weekend everyone but Hannah and I went to the beach for the day. Enjoy the pics...again, everyone had a great time!
