Grace's Braces

Above is the before picture taken in the parking lot of the ortho''s office. Below--Grace shows off all of her loot that she got after getting her braces. They gave her an electric toothbrush, a t-shirt, and a little box with a travel toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and some other stuff. She seems to have had a good experience--she said that it didn't hurt getting them on and her teeth were just a little sore last night. Today they feel okay, just sore cheeks where the braces are rubbing. She's tried using the wax and it helps a little but mostly she's just getting used to it.

Happy Birthday to Grace...One More Time

Grace had a pool party with some friends on Saturday. They had a great time, I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Happy Birthday Gracie!

Gracie celebrated her 10th birthday on Wednesday but the fun began on Tuesday night with her birthday dinner and presents. Per her request, we had cubed steak, mashed potatoes, lima beans, and macaroni and cheese. The picture above is of Joe's card for her, it came with a paper balloon and everything. Pretty snazzy.
She was very excited about her donut maker and her gift card to Dunkin' Donuts--woohoo! I hope she shares. :0)

She and I made donuts for birthday breakfast. I love, love, love this donut maker. After one time of me helping just a little, Grace has mastered the making of donuts and has made them two more times completely alone.
Wednesday afternoon we picked up one of Grace's BFFs, actually her oldest BFF (they've been buddies since they were babies) and we went to the mall to get Grace's ears pierced. She did great and only almost passed out after it was done. She got woozy and had to put her head between her knees for a few minutes. She got over it fast though.
We loved the sequined bunny mask.

After the mall we stopped at Sonic for some frozen treats and then took Abby home, picked up Hannah and Joe and went to theatre. Later at home after dinner we had ice cream sundaes for birthday dessert. I'd say Gracie had a great birthday and she still has a party to look forward to!

Grace's Birthday in Pictures

Well, Grace's birthday has come and gone. We had ice cream sundaes on Monday night instead of cake, she was good with that. Ollie put a couple of brussel sprouts on his ice cream sundae. Yum!

I did a better job on her cakes than I did with Joe's. Don't sprinkles make everything look festive? She didn't have candles. I didn't have any and forgot to get any at the store. It was way too windy for candles anyway. These are a few of the cuties in our homeschool group.
Grace and her longest friend Abby. They've known each other since birth!

And I caught some park mommas on camera too. The lighting is cruddy and not everyone is looking but I posted these anyway!

Happy Birthday Grace Smiley Face!

Gracie is 8 years old today! One thing that everyone notices about Grace is that she is ALWAYS smiling. She is one of the happiest kids I know. She is very cooperative and has such a great attitude. She makes the best of every situation, always finding the good thing. On cleaning day she jumps right in and declares that she is in a "cleaning mood," she then goes on to clean her room as well as I can and then tackles every other task I ask her to do. When faced with a plate full of food she doesn't care much for. She doesn't say anything, just quickly and quietly eats what she doesn't like first and always saves the best for last. She is Hannah and Joe's favorite which can be exhausting for her at times when they are both vying for her attention. She loves chocolate and thinks farts are hilarious. What's not to love about this girl! Enjoy these pictures courtesy of my sis! I have none of my own to share due to my computer glitches. I think these span the last couple of years but in every one you can see Grace's smiling face and the joy that just oozes from her!

A Grace Funny

Yesterday Grace was telling me how she knew Hannah was in the bathroom. Our conversation went like this, "I know that Hannah must be in the bathroom because I see that the door is closed and the light is on. Joe is at the table, Dad just walked through the living room, you are right here, and I can see me right here too. If you can see you are never lost. Except for blind people, they can lose themselves because they can't see where they are."

A Haircut!

Grace made the big decision to have her hair cut! She's been agonizing over this decision for days and finally took the plunge yesterday. She loves it! I do too, it suits her. Her hairdresser? Her Daddy. Not bad.
