Christmas Day
We had an unusual Christmas morning this year...Ollie spent about 3 hours or more working on the brakes on my car. He had started the project the day before and needed to finish it. So, the kids got up, opened their stockings and then Ollie went out to work, I went to the kitchen to make lasagna for our Christmas dinner and the kids hung out and did whatever. Finally, we left for H and B's...just an hour and a half late...we got there though and that was the important thing. After some bow and arrow fun in the backyard (pics of that to come later) we started opening presents. That was lots of fun...of course!
"How much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" all in Latin. :0)
We had an international themed Christmas this year. We had international food and each family group prepared a presentation about holiday traditions in a different country. For lunch we had sauerkraut and sausages, lasagna, beans and rice with Lozano sauce, swedish meatballs, indian spicy okra, and I don't remember what all else. Later in the afternoon Grace made crepes (her country was France).
Above...Bob is teaching us some Scottish dance, lots of fun!
Grace's picture of all her One Direction stuff she got...yes, she's obsessed.

Merry Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve every year we spend the day opening gifts and then enjoying the gifts--playing with them, trying them out, etc. It's an all day thing and we have good food too! It's probably my favorite day of the year. This morning started early at about 7. The kids opened a new video game that they can all play together and then they went and played it with Ollie while I made breakfast. We had a big breakfast of bacon, hash browns, eggs, yogurt, and juice and egg nog.
After breakfast, we gave the kids their "big" gift...Hannah got a bean bag chair, Joe got a bow and arrows, and Grace got a camera. We usually only give them one thing but this year they got the one thing plus a couple of other little things--the game and books.
Joe was clearly thrilled with his bow and arrows.
