Last Day in London...High Tea and Harrod's

The boys went to the Churchill War Rooms and the girls and I went to High Tea in the hotel.  Wow...it was pretty amazing and so froo-froo and fun!  Really good food too!

They gave us these little tea timers, Grace and I shared a big pot of chai tea and Hannah had fruit tea so we had to have two different tea timers.

The presentation of our tea things was very nice.  We had three different kinds of sandwiches, desserts, and a basket of scones.  We couldn't eat it all but we tried!

We took the Tube to Harrod's.  I loved the Tube and have too many pictures of us in stations or on the train.  In the picture above, Joe is enjoying riding between cars.

It's impossible to tell in this picture, but the car in the picture above is completely bedazzled.  Very interesting!  Below, we are on our way into Harrod's.  The store is incredibly huge!  We limited our time to the toy department and the food.  :0)

This guy was painting girls' nails...he would do one nail on their finger.   He was pretty funny and we enjoyed chatting with him.

Above is a display of fake snow.  There was so much interaction of the staff with the customers, interesting demos and stuff going on all over the place.  Below is the area dedicated to Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed.  It was kind of unusual...I think that his family was associated with Harrod's.  They had their pictures and then the statue you see below.

Two random pics to finish off London...Joe and Grace on the "balcony" in our lobby which we loved!  And, above, yet another Tube picture.
I loved London so much and hope to go back!  I was so excited to see this city and it did not disappoint!  Next up...Paris!

London...Part Five

Harry Potter in the morning and the London Eye in the evening...The London Eye is sort of like a ferris wheel except that you get in pod with about 20 other people and it slowly makes it's way around a big circle.  It takes about 30 minutes and you get beautiful views of the city.

After the Eye we had another pub dinner, I think at Feathers?  Or maybe Albert's?  These pubs all run together.  :0)  We got popsicles on the way home at a little convenience store and hung out on the hotel front porch to eat them.
The next day....I think it was the next day.  I've lost count.  Anyway, the kids and Ollie and I went for a walk and saw the Horse Guards first.  The poor horses looked completely miserable with lots of people walking up to them and getting their picture taken with them.  We respected their space and took a picture from a distance.  We walked past Downing Street and saw where the Prime Minister lives.  We walked to Trafalgar Square and enjoyed some of the street entertainment and climbed on the lions!  Well, Ollie and I didn't climb any lions but Ollie helped the kids get up there and I took the pictures.  After this we went to the National Portrait Gallery where I didn't take even one picture because I was obeying the rules.  We saw some great art and the kids really liked it and so did Ollie and I.

This guy was drawing flags from all over the world and people would put money on the flags from their own countries.  Pretty cool idea I thought.

We ate lunch sitting at the base of a statue, sandwiches from Pret a Manger.  They were really good!
Then we went to the British Museum and saw the Rosetta Stone, I didn't get a picture of it, I was too busy examining it.  We walked through a little bit of the British Museum and then the girls and I took off on our own to find the Sherlock Holmes Museum and Ollie and Joe stayed and toured more of the British Museum and then went to a huge famous park and I can't remember the name right now.

The girls and I walked miles to the Sherlock Holmes museum and passed a Nando's along the way.  We didn't go in because we had just had lunch but this is a fast food place that the guys from One Direction love and Grace had been looking for one.  I wasn't sure if I was going to actually go into the Sherlock Holmes museum because it was about $25 to get in, the ridiculously long line helped me make up my mind really fast...so I settled for going into the gift shop, buying a couple of things including a Sherlock Holmes puzzle book and took a picture with the guy in front of the door.

At the bathroom, you could peek through a window in a door and see this room.

We eventually took our tired feet home to the hotel.  This might be the night that the kids got take out sushi and H, B, Ollie, and I enjoyed a nice italian meal.
