This Week....

Our first week of for real summer vacay flew by in a busy blur of catching up.  Here's a peek at my week day by day...

Monday--Monday was a work day around here.  I woke the kids up early and we all worked together to clean the entire house.  I bribed them with the promise of watching tv all day once their work was completed.  So, once the house was clean they parked themselves in front of the tv watching endless episodes of Brady Bunch and Full House.  I tutored twice, ran errands, and then babysat all evening (they helped with that...).
Tuesday--I had a Premier Designs jewelry party here on Tuesday morning.  I spent a lot of time stressing about this party--will anyone come?  Will anyone buy anything?  Why oh why did I say I would do this? It turned out to be a lot of fun.  People came and people bought and people at and people had fun.  The girls and I even got to pick out lots of free jewelry and I am getting a very colorful necklace and bracelet that I even think I'll wear.

Wednesday....We spent the morning at the dentist, all three kiddos had their checkups and all three got good reports!  Woohoo!  After the dentist we ran some errands and then went out to lunch at the Golden Corral.  We had free buffet coupons and we ate and ate and ate.  That is a dangerous place for anyone on a diet.  I should be on a diet but I'm not.  The afternoon was pretty quiet, Joe was at Jake's, Hannah went out with a friend, and Grace and I read and chillaxed.  I have been reading a book called, Looking for Alaska by Peter Jenkins.  I put the book on hold at the library thinking it was a young adult novel about a girl named Alaska....there is a book called Looking for Alaska that is about a girl named Alaska but the one I accidentally put on hold wasn't it.  Instead I discovered a book by an author that I enjoyed a long time ago when I was in college, Peter Jenkins.  He wrote Walk Across America and The Walk West about his experiences walking across America.  He is a great storyteller and met so many interesting people as he literally walked across America as a young man.  This book tells about the land, the people, and his experiences as he spent 18 months in Alaska.  It was very timely accidentally getting this book because we'll be going to Alaska in a few weeks.  I highly recommend any and all of his books!  The picture below is the back of Grace's head...she did a really cool braid!  She has been watching youtube videos and has become an expert hair braider.

Thursday...Thursday was a very eventful day.  I had an eye doc appointment at 9 to have my chalazion removed from my eyelid.  I didn't think it would be any big deal and thought by the afternoon I could easily resume normal activity.  The procedure didn't take long but the recovery has been rough.  I had to wear an eye patch for a few hours and I was completely shocked when I took it off.  I don't know what I expected, well, really, I hadn't expected anything, I had given it almost no thought.  It was swollen almost shut, hurt horribly, and it was badly bruised.  2 days later and it isn't much better... I'm icing it like crazy and it's slowly improving.  I'm glad it's over with and look forward to looking normal again!

Friday...I had big plans for Friday to go to a used curriculum sale but my eye was so bad when I woke up that I cancelled those plans.  The kiddos went to H and B's for the day and I stayed home and iced my eye and planned Sunday School lessons (not my strong point!) for Sunday.  Later on in the afternoon I endured more unpleasantness by going to the doctor for an annual checkup.  So glad that is done!  While I was enjoying my day alone and not enjoying a trip to the doctor...Hannah got her hair dyed.  She got it hombre dyed which is the latest cool thing to do to your hair.  It gradually gets lighter from top to bottom.  It looks good and she loves it!

Saturday....I got up early and went and got coffee and then took Grace to a friend's house where she's been pet sitting all week.  They come home today and  part of her job was to vacuum the whole house and do some cleaning.  She did that and I finished my Alaska book.  The rest of the day is too busy--closing out the jewelry party, birthday party, engagement party, playing taxi driver... and so on.  My life is busy and sometimes almost too much but I do love it and I am so blessed!

Thanks for the taxiing (my iPod doesn't like that word) that involved Madi!
