I slept in today--until about 7:45. I have to get bloodwork done at 9:45 and I'm not allowed to eat before I have it done. So, I took this opportunity to sleep in (7:45 isn't really sleeping in but it's better than getting up at 6 something). I figure that gives me less time to be starving. I am one of those people who wakes up hungry and I eat right away usually. It's going to be a long morning. I HATE having my blood drawn! I have never passed out but always worry that I will. Hopefully it will be fast.
We are officially on vacation--I wrapped up school yesterday. We leave Wednesday for our big trip to Chi-town! I am hoping to get the house cleaned before we go. I would like to leave Ollie in a clean house and maybe he'll keep it that way so I can come home to a clean house. I usually do when I go out of town. I'm thankful for that!
I'm so excited that the new season of American Idol has started. I have only gotten to watch one night of auditions but it was pretty funny. I have a few questions though...
- Do some of the really bad singers actually think they are good? Or do they just want to be so bad that they have a chance of getting on national television?
- Do the ones that they end up making fun of on national television (like the girl who was a fan of Kara, the one with the pink cowboy hat) know that they will totally be made fun of on national television or do the directors make them think that that extra footage will be used nicely? I mean the people who are not horrible, just a little different. Those are the ones I feel bad for.
- WHY did they put bikini girl through? Please tell me it's not just because of her body. Her voice was NOT good enough and her attitude was nasty. I think they just thought it would be funny. That girl made me sad though. She was so caught up in herself and her beauty. She had nothing beyond that though and was so arrogant. "Beauty is fleeting..." What then?
I missed The Office last night, I think it was a new one too. Anyone see it? Hopefully I can watch it online.
I've been reading a devotional by Amy Carmichael--wow! She was one amazing woman. I am convicted every day about my tie to this world and it's stuff and the daily grind of doing, doing, doing and not just being, being, being. I seldom take the time to enjoy God's creation, to rest and reflect. I so desperately need to learn to slow down. Any advice?
Okay, I know this post has been all over the place. Sorry, it's the hunger pangs. I'm off to get ready for the day. I actually have to "do" my hair these days if I want it to look decent. Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to you too! See ya in a little while!
(Tiffany is coming over to watch the American Idol that she missed:))
The bikini girl was strange and awkward. I think they did just put her through because of her body.
I think some people try-out because they know they stink and that will get them on t.v.
The Office was new. It was pretty funny, too. I won't say anything more than that.
Here's a link to a great behind the scenes look at American Idol: http://www.5minutesformom.com/5361/i-am-not-the-next-american-idol/
It includes some insight into the ghastly bikini girl incident.
You must watch last night's Office. It had a lot of great lines.
So, did you pass out from the bloodwork?? :)
I'm sorry that I can't help you with the slowing down. I will tell you that having your kids get lice keeps you in for a while. Nobody invites you anywhere! :)
I wanted to comment also on the slowing down thing but my kids were bugging me. Anyway, I am in no position to give people advice on anything, ever, so that's just my disclaimer, but since I'm somewhat good at slowing down, maybe a little too good, I will say this...I think you are like my hubsband and so I'll tell you what he started doing. He needed to slow down a little because it was honestly too much for me; I wanted to bop him on the head sometimes. He didn't make a grand plan though, he kept it simple. He just decided he was going to spend ten minutes walking or riding his bike. He just picked those things because he enjoys them. He found that he loved it and so then he turned it into 20 minutes and now he feels rotten if he hasn't gotten outside. So just start slow, like ten minutes a day. Don't use it for anything other than enjoying the world around you. Before you know it, you'll want your time of slowing down and you'll miss it when you don't get it in. I think God wants us to enjoy the natural beauty of the world around us. Why else would he have made it so awesome?
I am excited also about the new AI season. The bikini thing is annoying because they are so cruel to some decent singers but she was awful and they put her through. I don't think she'll last long unless she continues to dress skanky. I am looking forward to the link the Tree lady gave.
