Seven Quick Takes

1.  I am putting myself on a February Facebook Fast so please let me know if I'm missing anything wonderful.  I started my fast on Saturday and over the course of the weekend read two books.  :0)  In addition to staying off of FB, I gave myself permission to be completely and totally unproductive.  This past weekend was literally the first weekend since mid-November that I didn't have big plans for much of the weekend.  It was a wonderful weekend with lots of time spent on/in my new recliner and recliner/couch.

2.  The two books I read were Where'd You Go, Bernadette--LOVED it!!  I didn't want it to end and am still thinking about the characters.  I also read Eleanor and Park which is actually a young adult novel, I read a lot of those these days.  I really liked the book but it was a little dramatic and depressing and was full of foul language.  I still enjoyed it and read it really fast because I couldn't put it down and didn't have to.  The main character's life is just depressing and sad and I found myself in a funk after reading it.  Which, actually, is part of the reason I just had to finish it.  I couldn't remain in that funk once Monday arrived, there was way too much to do!  I am now reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (the same author as Eleanor and Park), hopefully this one won't put me in a funk.  We'll see...

3.  The girls and I are going to a self defense class tonight.  This should be interesting, I've never done anything like this and have no idea what to expect but it seemed like a good idea.

4.  For a while now (at least a few months) I've felt like I'm over-socialized and I just CRAVE time alone.  I get very little time alone because I also like to be social and also live in a house with 4 other people.  Three of which are really social themselves.  Anyway, I had this epiphany the other day that maybe FB was the reason I felt so over-socialized.  Even when I was alone I was obsessively popping in and checking FB.  So, I was always involved whether in person or online in lots of people's lives--the good, the bad, and the ugly.  It occurred to me that I might feel less crazy in my head and less desperate for alone time if I actually just socialized in person with people.  I know not everyone is addicted to FB as I am and are better at using it in moderation so I'm not saying FB is bad.  In fact, I can list all sorts of reasons why FB is a great thing and brings people together and is a wonderful community.  I just need a break.

5.  It's almost time to make my daily run to the theatre so I have to make these last few quick--Grace and Joe are in both casts of Music Man, Jr. and so they are there 4 days a week and Hannah is working backstage for the main stage show and spent every night of last week at the theatre.  I am thankful that they are involved in such a great theatre program and so glad that they have something to do in their spare time...I just wish we lived a little closer to the theatre...

6.  I go to the dentist on Wednesday and I'm super dreading it.  There was a time in my life when I really loved the dentist but not these days!  This is  my big check up appointment where they will do x-rays.  I'm praying for no cavities and no root canals.  I had my second root canal over Christmas and I never want another one.  I am already a nervous wreck and have considered cancelling my appt a number of times.  I'm not going to though...my 8 year hiatus from the dentist is probably what got me into this mess in the first place.  Pray for me!

7.  I have lots more pictures I want to share from our last week with the Buc's here visiting.  I'll get those posted later.  They left last Thursday and it was sad to say goodbye.  We enjoyed being neighbors for the month and made some wonderful memories!!
