Just Stopping in to Say Hello and Talk Too Much About Cinderella

It's Sunday morning...I've been in the fog and fun of show weekend for what feels like a week. Today is the last show and it isn't my kids' cast but Hannah is in the ensemble and I'll be doing lights for the show and then helping to strike the set afterwards. Should be another long day but fun. Yesterday there were two shows and only about an hour inbetween so we stayed at the theatre all day with just a break for dinner in the park between shows. It was a great day. Joe did so well playing Herbert for the afternoon show. I was so proud of him. You'll have to check out the videos to see his part. He has a short solo in "Tinseltown" and then a monologue in "The Ball" scene and another big scene that I titled "Herbert Tells Millicent Off." I've been uploading videos to Youtube all morning and will continue until they are all loaded. Then I'll be posting a bunch here on the blog. They are all short--the longest is 5 minutes I think. Anyway, Hannah played a stepsister in both shows yesterday and was completely hilarious. She has become quite the character actress. Watch the Stepsister scenes and you'll see what I mean. :0) Grace played Babette, the French poodle, in last night's show (as well as Thursday's show) and did a great job. It wasn't a big part but she loved it and did great! I've already posted her scene but she is also in "Smile Check" and has a line in "Raggin' It" right at the end. Before the shows and during intermission I've been selling raffle tickets, candy grams, and Chick-fil-a calendars. I'm down to 4 calendars left of the 200 we had to sell. I still have about 10 people who want calendars so I'll be getting another box next week. If you're reading this blog and want a calendar you better let me know. Once I get this other box and sell to the people I know want one I'll be wrapping this fundraiser up, I'm done. While I'm "working" at the shows I get to meet and talk to all sorts of people. Let's just say there are some interesting fish in this sea of life that we're all swimming in. I love meeting people and hopefully being "salt and light" in their lives hopefully loving them for who they are just as Jesus loves me.
I'm looking forward to getting back to "normal" life tomorrow. Thank goodness we have co-op though or I'd be tempted to suspend all of my kids and take the day off. :0) We have a normal week ahead of us--school, school, and more school with some theatre thrown in. It doesn't matter that they just had a full week of theatre. A new show starts tomorrow--Bugsy Malone, Jr. They will get CDs tomorrow at class and this week they'll learn a couple of the group numbers and then auditions will be next Monday. Hopefully my kids will get parts they are happy with but if they don't--they just have to wait a couple of months for the next show to try again. So, I'm prepared to be listening to lots of singing this week as the kids prepare for their big auditions on Monday--all part of the fun. :0)
On another note--there were some movie producers "scouting" our show this weekend. They are independent producers and I have no idea how legit they are or if they are any good or really anything about them but they gave Hannah (along with about 6 or 7 other kids) the book of the movie they are producing and asked her to give them a call about setting up an audition. I'm not sure what to think about it all. Mostly I think--we don't have time to add anything else into our schedule...But--I will most likely check them out and then decide whether or not she can audition (if she even wants to) and go from there. I will also of course read the book before making any decisions. Most likely it won't be something we get involved in but it's fun for her that she got noticed.
Enjoy the videos (or ignore them....) and pictures and I'll be back to my normal blog posts later this week. :0)
