Monday, Monday...no, Tuesday, Tuesday
I have been wasting my morning on the computer...it seems to be my habit these days...I had another busy weekend and when I have a busy weekend I have a really hard time getting moving on Monday morning. I have a ton to do today too and really should get started. But, I'm going to blog first. Sort of empty my brain a bit. I typed that first paragraph yesterday morning and then got distracted...I think I'll try again. It's Tuesday night now, almost 9:30, almost bedtime. We had a very productive school day today and now, aside from Math for Grace and Joe, we are done with school! We did it, we finished strong and even managed to take standardized tests too! Thanks to my friend, Debi, I found a website where for $25 your child can take the CAT 5 online and the results are immediate. Love that! The kids all scored really well and so I can consider this school year a success. Honestly, even if they hadn't scored well on a standardized test, I know that we have had a successful school year because they have learned and grown and matured in ways that can't just be measured on a test. It's been a good school year and I'm so glad it's over! The picture of our family above is our annual Mother's Day picture that we get taken at church and the few pics below are of my Mother's Day breakfast and gift.
These next few pictures are really random...two selfies, one displaying my new glasses that I had to get so that I could wear glasses for two weeks while I am on an antibiotic eye drop to try to get rid of my chalazion on my eye--you can see my chalazion in the picture below, it's that big bump on my eyelid. I've had it for almost 8 months now and have just decided to really take action to get rid of it. I keep thinking that it will just go away but it's not going away. I'm doing warm/hot compresses a few times a day plus doing chamomile tea bag compresses, wearing glasses instead of contacts and taking the antibiotic. So far, I am not seeing any good results. If none of these efforts are successful I will have to see an eye doctor and probably have it lanced. I'm scared of that.
This past Saturday we went geocaching with the family of the student that Ollie tutors. It was fairly successful, I think we found 3 out of the 5 we were looking for. Not bad.
I have a library book addiction. I keep checking out books and checking out books and checking out books. Mostly books for the kids that I think they will like. Hannah is still on a quest to find books that she is interested in and/or new authors. Now that we have more time she is reading a lot (I think she has read 3 books this week). She is finding some she really likes and has even made herself a book list, I love that! I am also reading some of the same books she is reading because I often like Young Adult books. The latest book I read was Witch and Wizard by James Patterson. One of Grace's friends recommended it to her and I wasn't so sure about it based on the title but I love the author. I read the whole thing in about 24 hours and I liked it, it's the first in a series. I don't think I'll continue the series though, it's a little young and boring for me but I think Grace will like it. Even Joe is reading a book that I picked out, Wonder. It has come highly recommended by someone online and Julie talked about it too. I read the first few chapters to Joe and now he has decided that he wants to read it to himself. I liked it enough though that I'm going to read it too. It's about a boy who was born with a facial disfigurement who goes to school for the first time. That's about all I know. Hannah read, (and I am listening to), A Fault in Our Stars by John Green. That's another one that I've recently heard people talking about. Hannah loved it and I am enjoying it so far. It's about a boy and a girl who both have cancer and meet at a cancer support group. I think it will be sad in a good book sad sort of way. I love reading and I love talking about books...I could go on and on. But I won't.
I'm going to the homeschool convention this weekend. I'm looking forward to learning about homeschooling high school and also hoping to get some wisdom/direction/inspiration about what to do with Joe next year. I want something new and interesting that will make school less of a chore and more of a good experience. :0)
That's all I've got....peace out!

Joe as Jojo in Seussical, Jr.
Joe was thrilled to be able to play (in his words...) his "dream role." His enthusiasm for this part certainly showed on stage, he was great! He was loud and expressive and played the role just right. PS--videos of him are on my Youtube channel too.
Hannah as the Cat in the Hat in Seussical, Jr.
This was a fun role for Hannah, lots of popping in and out of the show and playing lots of different characters. Next I'll post a link to a montage of most of her appearances. She did great!
