7 Quick Takes

1. The kids and I ate lunch at McDonald's today for $2.14. I had bought the Valentine Coupon thing back in February and gave it to my kids for Valentine's Day. The Coupon packet was only $1 and included coupons for 3 free small cones, 3 free hamburgers, 3 free apple dippers, and 3 free chocolate milks or apple juice. Our local McD's let the kids use as many coupons as they wanted today so the kids each got a burger, apple dippers, chocolate milk, and an ice cream cone for dessert. I got a $1 McDouble and $1 Small drink. Not bad and no mess at home for me to clean up!
2. I had to buy makeup today. I never wear makeup aside from lipstick and occasionally powder. Today I had to buy eyeliner and concealer and powder. The kids' show, "Beauty and the Beast," is this weekend and they've been told that they need to wear more makeup than usual and girls should definitely wear eyeliner. I'm a little scared...I stink at applying makeup so I stick to keeping it very spare. I guess I'll be practicing on Grace tomorrow though. I had to buy concealer for her too b/c she has this perpetual zit right in the middle of her chin and right now it's really red b/c she won't quit messing with it. I also had a perpetual zit in the middle of my chin through all of puberty I think--whoonu that zit location was hereditary?
3. I started a Wally Lamb book last night--She's Come Undone. I've heard mixed reviews about it but so far I am enjoying it. I loved the last book I read of his, I Know This Much is True. I finished The Alchemist last night--great book! It really got me thinking, it's kind of a parable. It reminded me of an Og Mandino book. I read all of his many, many years ago.
4. I finished scrapbooking yesterday--I got everything done that I set out to do when I set up my scrapbooking station. It felt good to get it all done and I even had a little fun sometimes. I miss scrapbooking for fun and getting creative with my pages and stuff. Maybe someday I'll get back into it. For now though I will maintain the theatre book and each of my kids' books and the rest will be photo books that I make online. I bought a Groupon coupon for a $10 book at Shutterfly, the book is normally a $30 book. That will be my August, September, October book. I'm caught up until July of last year. Hopefully in the next month or so I can do a few books online and be completely caught up. Wouldn't that be nice??
5. I've been listening to the book One Thousand Gifts and it is so good, life changing good. I am determined to live a more thankful existence--to find joy in the little things. I'm tired of being brought down by stress and a crazy life. I am so blessed and it's time to act like it! :0)
6. I'm super excited about "Beauty and the Beast" this weekend. It's almost sold out--less than 20 tickets per show available I think and maybe even less now. I think it's going to be a great show. I'm hoping I can do my little videos, I'm not sure what the rules will be at this new theatre.
7. I'm also super excited about Spring Break and our company that is coming...I can't wait to relax and enjoy our days together. The kids and I will trudge through two more days of school and then.................spring break!!! Woohoo!!!

Get the girls to do their own make-up - Mad does her own now and does a much better job than I do - it's really hard to do make-up on someone else.

I'm reading your blog on the library computer while you are just behind me working. Seems weird!

I ate at McD's yesterday too. I had a major sinus headache and those happy meals are the only thing that works at getting rid of them. Really. It's true.
