Hand Jive

Some of Hannah's Scenes

Summer Nights and Mooning

The song below is my favorite (of course)--it's just so funny if you listen to the words. All about mooning and Madi sings like it's such a romantic song. It's so much better live of course.

Greased Lightning

The video quality of all of my videos are TERRIBLE! I even considered not posting any but decided to go ahead and post--mostly for my mom and sis. So, this is the first of a whole bunch of videos. Some are Hannah's scenes and some are whole songs. The show is soooo good and these videos do not do it justice!

Confession

So, I didn't drink that green smoothie for dinner.  I wasn't hungry, didn't eat dinner and went to the show.  Then, when I got hungry, I ate a cup of chili with potato chips crushed in it (soooo good!).  When I got home I didn't make a healthy choice and instead ate leftover tater tot casserole.

Today is a new day and I had that green smoothie for breakfast but I am going to a baby shower and can make no guarantees about my diet the rest of the day!

Seven Quick Takes

1. I went to the library today and one of the books I was checking out wouldn't scan. It was an older paperback. I told the nice lady checking me out that I could get it another time, I didn't have to have it today. Then the head library lady says, "Let her take it, she's family." Do you think I go in the library a lot? I have lived here for 14 years and have been an avid user of the library so I am proud to be considered family! Let me take this moment to say that if you do not use your local library you really, really should! Our library has tons of tv shows on DVD, tons of movies (including the newest ones), on DVD as well as every book imaginable. Sometimes I will see a book on a blog or someone will mention a book they are reading and I go straight to my library's website and find it there and place a hold. The internet is a wonderful thing when paired with the library. I go online at home, search for and order books from our system (all the libraries in the county) and then pick them up at my local library. I don't even usually have to go in. My girls take turns running in with the library card and picking up any holds. We live in a small town and so if our library system has all this I'm sure most libraries do too. Support your local library!!
2. I see no difference between bleached and unbleached flour. Do you? They are both pretty white.
3. Opening night of Grease, Jr. was last night and it was an awesome show!! Here are a few pictures. Hannah played Patty Simcox--the annoying preppy cheerleader who likes Danny. She was very funny last night!

4. I have been eating pretty horribly. I've learned so much in the past year yet I easily fall back into unhealthy eating. One thing that I have to get used to and deal with is that I need to eat healthy food even when I don't feel like it or don't like it. Just because I don't feel like drinking a green smoothie, I need to drink it anyway. I need to eat my greens and my veggies even if that is not what I'm craving or what my body is "asking" for. I'm going to start tonight by drinking a green smoothie for dinner. For real.
5. My kids have been watching Brady Bunch a lot the past two days. I love that show!! I've seen every episode and generally know what is going to happen based on the first five minutes. I haven't taken the time to sit and watch with my kids but I've been listening to it. I have to say though--those girls (even Carol) are so snotty!
6. I colored my hair today, I hope that I was able to cover those few stubborn greys that I have. Last time I colored my hair I could see the grey hair within a week. I only have a few but I hate seeing them there! One day I'm going to grow up and actually go to a real salon to have my hair colored but for now I must do it myself.
7. In the last three days I've made 4 batches of chocolate chip bars and 4 batches of lemon bars. All for concessions at Grease. I've now memorized both recipes I think.

Random, Random, Oh So Random

  • I have spent the greater portion of my day in the kitchen. Wanna hear what I've made? Of course you do...2 batches of chocolate chip cookie bars, one batch of lemon bars, a new dal recipe with black gram beans and kidney beans (best dal I've ever made), rice, macaroni and cheese, chicken, and a Finnish pancake that will be eaten for breakfast tomorrow.
  • We have to leave the house by about 9:15 tomorrow morning to go see a play and so I decided to try and be ahead of the ballgame by making breakfast tonight. Hopefully the morning will go smoothly.
  • I'm not feeling the American Idol love this year. I was enjoying it until about two weeks ago and each week it's just getting more and more boring for me. I was mildly offended by the opening scene last night. Ellen was sitting on Simon's lap totally seductively nibbling or sucking his ear. It was totally inappropriate and not what I want my kids exposed to. I guess for me that was the last straw. I might have overlooked that (as I have countless other things) if I was enjoying the show more. But I'm not so that's that. I will keep up with it a bit on the web though. Of course I'll want to know who goes home every week.
  • I'm trying to exercise a little bit. I've walked three times this week--not necessarily fast but I have walked for about twenty to thirty minutes and that's better than what I was doing before. The last two days we've walked with Amanda and three of her dogs. The kids each have their own dog on a leash and we make quite the entourage. The kids love it though and it's nice to get us all exercising.
  • We've been on a bit of a Spring break this week (which is why there has been time in the morning to take a walk)--very busy week equals very little school (book, paper, and pencil school that is) and I mentioned to the kids that this will be their spring break. Hannah said, "oh, is that what it is? I thought we were suspended." Oh, she's a funny one!
  • Grease starts tomorrow and runs through the weekend. I'm pretty excited. I love show weekends! Get ready for lots of pictures and videos.
  • It's time to hit the hay, I need a good night's rest!
