Big Road Trip Day 1--Anastasia State Park

Finally...all packed up and ready to go! It seems like it takes forever to finally get it all done and get on the road.
Our first stop was just a couple of hours from home at Anastasia State Park. We all worked together to get the tent up, thankfully it's not too hard. It's been so nice to finally have kids old enough to really help. We've been camping since Hannah was a baby and have usually done all the work ourselves--not anymore! Once we got close to the campground we realized we had forgotten to pack a pot and a pan and so we could not cook dinner without first making a stop at a store. We were eager to get to the park and get our tent up before dark so we skipped the store and ordered pizza delivered to our site instead. Then once things were set up and the pizza had arrived we walked down to the beach and had a picnic.

Then, it was bedtime..
Breakfast was leftover pizza and lychees from our tree at home. They ripened just in time for us to pack them and bring them with us.
I took the kids to the beach for a romp in the surf while Ollie stayed back and loaded the car. Then we were off for a long day of driving. Our next stop was in northern North Carolina at Medoc Mountain State Park.

cold pizza for breakfast is the best. I love how the congealed cheese is like one puck of salty chewiness. And the runny tomato sauce balances out the stiff crust.. yummmmmm!
