Praying Mantises

Well, two have died now and two seem to be having trouble with their latest shed.  They've kind of been stuck in the same position all day.  I'm not sure what is up.  Maybe this is how it always is but happens overnight so I don't see it.  We had nine so there are still some healthy ones in there thankfully.  Grace and I had to have a talk about the fragility of life in the insect world.  It makes her sad to see the dead ones on the bottom of the habitat.  I'll try to get them out tonight so she doesn't have to keep seeing them.  Of course, you can be sure I'm not touching them so I'm not quite sure how I will get them out.  

Tomorrow we take our mantises to Joe's preschool.  Grace and I are going to do a presentation and teach a little about praying mantises and then we will let them see them.  We are going to do it during "tea party" which is their morning snack time.  My plan is to do it like a question and answer thing--like I don't know about praying mantises and so I ask Grace questions and she answers them.  Hopefully it will go well.  I will post pictures tomorrow if I am able to get any.  We also have some neat praying mantis glasses that show you how praying mantises see so we would like to let the kids try those on if it doesn't get too chaotic.  Not sure that we can keep the attention of 40 preschoolers but we will try.
