When we got into the terminal to check in for our cruise we were approached by one of the employees who told us that we had been chosen to be the "Family of the Day." She then took us to each station that we had to go through and we got to be first in line to get processed with everything and then first on the ship! We even got our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie and I think everyone else just got one or the other. Joe looks like he's crying in this picture but he wasn't--this was the third or fourth picture taken and I think he was nervous. After all of the checking in they stood us in front of everyone and announced us as the family of the day and everyone in the terminal cheered and clapped. Then we walked on the ship and the crew cheered and clapped for us. It was crazy! We entered the ship and they directed us straight to a restaurant for a huge lunch buffet. The picture below is us walking down the hallway all alone.
Pluto showed up at lunch and Grace thoroughly enjoyed the dessert bar.

After lunch we toured the ship for a little while and had some hot chocolate--it was cold (well, cold for us Floridians).
When we got to go to our stateroom we were thrilled to find a cake and a huge fruit tray!
Just before sailing they had a big "Adventures Away" party on deck complete with loud, rockin' music, characters, and streamer wands. At the end of the party we set sail!

Here is Joe all dressed up for dinner our first night. And below, is my appetizer--Mushroom risotto.
When we came back to our room we found a snake on our bed! The towel animals are so much fun. The steward comes in while you are at dinner and turns down the beds and lowers the top bunk and leaves towel animals around the room and chocolate too!
After dinner every night we attended a Broadway-style show. All three shows were amazing! Incredibly well done. That was the end of our first day...
