PowWow

Joe had a PowWow at school on Friday.  They've been learning about Native Americans all week and ended the week with this PowWow.  It was so cute!  They all had on vests made from paper bags, little feather head bands, and a beaded necklace.  They also each had a tomtom drum.  Each child had a Native American name on the back of their "vest."  Joe's was "Collector of the Earth."  His teacher chose that name for him because he is always collecting sticks on the playground and putting them in his lunchbox to take home.  It's really sweet how they know each child.  The started the PowWow singing some songs and beating on their tomtoms.  Then they had corn on the cob, and some other snacks made from corn and a few M&M's thrown in for fun.  They do like M&M's at that school!  Joe seemed to really enjoy it and sang and participated in the songs.  I have to say that my baby was just adorable sitting there with his preschool friends in his paper bag vest.  I would never get him to wear that at home!
