Margin

I have this little book with short readings called, "A Minute of Margin."  It has been so good.  Basically this book is based on the fact that our lives these days have very little margin.  We have more convenience, computers that work for us, cars to get us places faster, all sorts of stuff that should make us really happy and content.  Instead, we are overworked and exhausted.  We don't get enough sleep, we spend time maintaining all our stuff, we are always busy going here there and everywhere.  We have no margin in our lives.  Our days are so packed that there is no room for plans to go awry.  And so on... you get the picture.  This book has helped me with my problem of filling my life with too much.  Too much stuff, too many plans, too many activities, and so on.  I am working on having margin in my day.  Walking everywhere is a perfect example.  It will take time and energy to walk to our activities.  I won't be able to run that extra, unnecessary errand "while I am out anyway."  If I am in the stores less I will spend less money.  I have been trying to live off whatever is in the cabinets and fridge this week.  I am trying to go as long as I can without going to the store.  Tonight we had cheese and crackers and kale sauteed with garlic for dinner.  We are down to eggs and lima beans so I think I will be coming up with a menu and grocery list tonight.  I have so much to learn yet but I hope I am off to a good start.

I have been praying for you. Glad you have been having a Holy Spirit filled week.

I enjoyed your post. Lots of truth to it. I try staying home too. I'm a compulsive buyer and going to the stores is not good for me. God's working on me. :o)
