I Really Should Post About Our New Car...

but that is so yesterday.  I have a great story too about how the Honda is now the Maggotmobile and I am now the Maggotmomma but that's not what I feel like writing about right now and this blog is all about me so...I'm in the mood for some bullet points to help express all the bloggy thoughts swirling around my brain this afternoon.

• I woke up today grumpy and overwhelmed.  There is too much to do and not enough time to do it.  I really could use a week alone in my house to try to gain some sense of control.  I am (was) hoping to use this week between trips to get really organized in the school area so that we could start no later than a week after we get back from Chicago.  So far I've gotten almost nowhere.  I did get the big shelf thingy put together this morning but not until I screwed it up, got really frustrated, cried, and Ollie came to my rescue.  It's up and running now though and already full of all the school stuff.  As I took stuff off of my redneck bookshelves and then put it on the new shelf ideas were flooding into my mind of all we could study this year.  I have a lot of stuff!!!  I also am realistic and know that there is a good chance that much of it will still be sitting there unused this time next year.  I can always dream though, right?
• I didn't go to the library today to get my name into the box.  I am not feeling so optimistic that I will win even though my name is in there umpteen times.  They only pull one name out and it could easily be the old geezer that came in there to get a new Lewis Grizzard book and on a whim put his name in the box.  But, I am still hoping, just not optimistic.
• Allright--I'll tell you about the new car.  Thanks to Mr. Obama and his "Cash for Clunkers" deal we traded in our van (blue book value $500) and bought a brand new car.  We are now the proud owners of a VW Jetta Sportswagon.  It's pretty fancy and my favorite part is that we get Satellite radio for 3 months.  There are some great channels on there!  So far I am most excited about the book channel where they read books all day and night and the blue collar comedy station and the 80s Alternative station.  So far that's the only one Ollie and I agree on.  
• Now the Maggotmobile story--I drove the Honda to GA and was transporting a crock pot of pinto beans to my sister's for Mexican Fiestsa night (Ole`!).  Well....I turned a corner a little too fast and spilled beans all over the back floor board.  When I got to my sister's I unloaded and sort of cleaned up the mess--best I could do with some paper towels and figured I'd deal with it later.  Well, later didn't really come until Sunday (they spilled on Tuesday).  The Honda STUNK seriously bad and something needed to be done.  I go to lift up the mats and guess what is under there??? Maggots.  Yes, maggots.  Didn't expect that.  So, I cleaned it with Windex, some Simple Green, and sprayed it with Raid Spider Killer.  That wasn't good enough though because they were back the next day--more Raid Spider Killer and half a bottle of Febreeze and the smell was no better nor were the maggots gone.  We made it home in the Maggotmobile and after a good scrubbing with Oxyclean the maggots are now gone but the smell...not so much.  
• What's funny about this story and the new car is that when I confessed to Ollie on the phone while I was still in GA he told me that if we ever got a new car it would not be mine, I was just not careful enough and didn't take care of things.  I figured that was an empty threat because we don't buy anything new especially cars.  We take everyone else's hand-me-downs.  Then, on the way home from SC he tells me that he's buying a new car.  Well, wonders never cease!  Maybe someday I'll get a new couch...and if I'm lucky and careful I'll get to sit on it.
